The Gables is situated in a pleasant residential area of Walmley, Sutton Coldfield, about 8 miles from Central Birmingham; with gardens that overlook open fields, it is a place for peace and tranquility. We offer extensive amenities and we would encourage you to visit The Gables to experience our home first hand. The Gables provides care for older people aged 65 and above, who can no longer manage at home alone, and need assistance with their daily care needs; or who suffer from dementia. Offering bright and comfortable accommodation, The Gables has been tastefully furnished and provides the perfect place for you to relax. There are 24 single bedrooms, with two that offer en-suite facilities, while all have televisions and a nurse-call system. Nine bedrooms are on the ground floor, and fifteen are on the first floor. Access to the first floor is by stairs or lift, and there is a ramped front entrance with handrails. We actively encourage our residents to bring items of their own furniture, small personal possessions & memorabilia,and of course we are pleased to welcome family and friends to visit. After all, it is your home. At The Gables, every resident is seen as an individual, with their own needs and preferences. As time goes by those needs will undoubtedly change, and our highly trained staff are on hand to provide professional care to the highest standards.
The bright sunny conservatory at the rear of the home, provides the perfect place for meals, while enjoying a view of the landscaped gardens. The large garden has a patio seating area enabling residents to enjoy the outdoors.
Residents enjoy a nutritious and varied menu, using fresh local produce wherever possible. All our food is home cooked, and we cater for all special dietary requirements, as well as personal likes and dislikes. Meals are served in the dining room or can be taken in the privacy of the resident's own room, if preferred.
One of our aims is to maintain a stimulating atmosphere. We have regular activities for our residents, as well as day trips. The in-house laundry provides a prompt, personal service for our residents, with bed linen and towels provided. Our highly trained staff are on hand to provide professional care to the highest standards in a warm, homely atmosphere.
All of our Staff are either already qualified to NVQ level 2 in Care, or are in the process of gaining the qualification. In addition to the care staff, we have a registered manager, Mrs Diane Killworth has completed her NVQ 4 i.e. LMC certificate, as well as being a qualified Nurse. The Gables also employs a deputy manager, six senior care staff, twelve care assistants (full-time/part-time), two cooks, two domestic staff and a part-time maintenance person. There are always three carers during the day, in addition to the Manager, and we have two waking care staff through the night, with a senior staff member always on call. All ancillary staff receive training in the home's philosophy and values. The home is fully committed to staff training and development.
